Teenager killed in early morning incident


JASlN: One of two cousins headed for sahur (pre-dawn meal) died in an accident in front of SK Datuk Haji Baginda, Merlimau, here.

The accident occurred at around 12.15am on Tues (March 4), said Jasin OCPD Supt Mohamad Rusli Mat.

He identified the deceased as 18-year-old victim as Ibnu Hakimi Abdul Rahman from Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan, who died on the spot after he was flung from the motorcycle he was riding.

"The motorcycle skidded and crashed into a pole while overtaking a car," he said.

He said a 31-year-old man was riding a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

Supt Mohamad Rusli said the deceased was unable to avoid the oncoming motorcycle  and lost control of his vehicle before crashing into an electric pole.

He added that the medical team confirmed that the victim died on the spot.

he said the pillon rider, who is the deceased's cousin, and the 31-year-old motorcyclist sustained injuries to their legs and hands and were taken to Melaka Hospital.

The accident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
