A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy in Hong Kong spent a month in hospital after being bitten by a snake he bought from an online store in China, Sin Chew Daily reported.
While handling his newly-bought pet reptile, the boy’s right index finger was bitten.
In less than two hours, his face drooped, his eyes stopped moving and he could not stop drooling.
Dr Wang Shaoming, a consultant at the Hong Kong Poison Control Centre, said the boy had bought a snake known as Suzhen’s krait.
The youngster was intubated for two weeks while being administered with anti-venom.
As the hospital did not have the specific anti-venom for Suzhen’s krait, the patient had to undergo five separate blood transfusions as part of his treatment.
He was warded for one month before making a full recovery.
