‘Report about Conference of Rulers 7-2 vote is fake’

PUTRAJAYA: No vote was taken during the last Conference of Rulers’ meeting on Feb 5, says Fahmi Fadzil.

“A fake report alleged that a 7-2 vote was taken at the recent Conference of Rulers, which is untrue. There was never such a vote.

“Posts on the official Facebook of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on the recent meeting of the Conference of Rulers, show that the King was absent and there were no nine Malay Rulers there.

“Sultan Ibrahim has been away (for medical treatment overseas) since last Friday.

“MCMC has identified the persons responsible for the posts which touches on 3R (race, religion and royalty). Action will be taken against those disseminating the fake news,” said the Communications Minister.

Recently, there have been posts alleging that a vote was taken by the Malay Rulers with regard to the addendum issue on former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s house arrest.

On Tuesday, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission said it is investigating six people for uploading false and indecent content involving Sultan Ibrahim and the Conference of Rulers on Facebook.
