Five killed in three-vehicle collision in Negri Sembilan


JEMPOL: Five people were killed in a three-vehicle collision along km6 Jalan Bahau-Rompin near here.

Jempol OCPD Supt Hoo Chang Hook said the accident happened just after 9pm on Wednesday (Feb 12).

He said the preliminary probe has revealed that a 51-year-old driver of a car first lost control of his vehicle, causing it to crash into an oncoming car heading towards Bahau.

"The man who lost control of his car was travelling alone while the other car had four occupants.

"A pickup truck which was trailing the car with the four people in then crashed into the vehicle," he said.

Supt Hoo said the impact caused all four occupants of the car aged 31, 19, 18 and 16 to be killed.

Also killed was the 51-year-old driver who was travelling alone.

Supt Hoo said the 43-year-old driver of the pickup truck escaped injury.

The case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Supt Hoo urged eyewitnesses to contact investigating officer Insp Muhammad Fasha Haiqal Mohd Faisal at 06 362 7746 to assist in investigations.
