KUALA LUMPUR: A group of family members of job scam victims being kept against their will in Thailand have congregated outside the Thai embassy here to urge the Thai government to help rescue them.

Around 40 family members had grouped outside the compound along Jalan Ampang on Wednesday (Feb 12) afternoon.

According to the group, Malaysians had been trafficked by crime syndicates and are being kept against their will.

Malaysian International Humanitarian Organisation (MHO) secretary-general Datuk Hishamuddin Hashim, who helped organise the gathering, said that the group were appealing for help.

"They have been tortured severely, locked in dark rooms and not given food for days with only water to drink. They are being forced to work like slaves," he said.

A letter to appeal for help was handed over to Adittha Buakhamsri, the minister-counsellor of the Thai embassy.
