Argument leads to fatal motorcycle crash in Alor Gajah

ALOR GAJAH: A 27-year-old woman is thought to have died when her motorcycle skidded and hit a stone wall in Kampung Pengkalan, reportedly after being chased by her husband on another motorcycle due to an argument.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said his men are still investigating based on the latest information received regarding the accident that claimed the life of Nur Erdiyanah Samsul Maarif from Kapar, Selangor.

“A witness stated that there was an argument between the victim and her 22-year-old husband before the incident, which led to a chase between the two, each on separate motorcycles.

“The husband was chasing the victim when her motorcycle skidded at a sharp corner near Kolej Vokasional Datuk Sri Mat Zin here before the machine crashed into a stone wall, resulting in her death," he said on Wed (Feb 12).

The victim, who was on her way home from Melaka Pindah heading towards Jalan Kasa Height here, was killed on the spot due to severe head injuries.

Supt Ashari said that the police have called the victim's husband, who works as a delivery rider, to assist in the investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.

“The cause of the argument between the couple, who have no kids, is still under investigation.

“There is a possibility that we will remand the victim's husband to assist with further investigation,” he added.
