Girl seen beaten in viral video has received treatment, says Nancy

SHAH ALAM: A girl who was beaten by a woman, resulting in injuries, has been taken to hospital for further treatment, says Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

The Women, Family and Community Development Minister confirmed this in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday (Feb 11).

She also confirmed that the suspect has been detained by the police.

"A Child Development Department protector has contacted the Sexual Crimes, Women and Child Investigation Division (D11) of the police to take immediate action and the suspect in the video has been detained.

"The girl has been taken by the protector to the hospital for further treatment. We pray that everything is facilitated for this girl," Nancy said in her post.

On Monday, a 48-second video went viral on social media showing a woman hitting and slapping a girl in front of a supermarket in Jejawi in Perlis.

The woman also pushed the child until she fell and hit her head on the corner of a chair, causing bleeding.
