Woman who forgot to ‘park’, crashes car

KOTA KINABALU: A woman crashed her vehicle into a shop after forgetting to turn off the engine and lock the gear in “park”, in east-coast Tawau district, according to the police.

However, apart from damage to the car and the shop, no one including the 62-year-old driver was hurt in the 7.30am accident along Jalan Bintang, off Batu 3 Jalan Apas, yesterday.

Tawau district police chief Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said initial investigation found that the woman had forgotten to put the car into “park” and turn off her engine when it surged into the store.

“The glass door and some items inside the shop were damaged,” he said, adding that none of the workers there were hurt in the mishap.

ACP Jasmin said the investigation was still ongoing under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, for careless driving that causes an accident.
