Chinese national arrested for trespassing into MPAJ to retrieve impounded car

KUALA LUMPUR: A Chinese national has been arrested for trespassing into an Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) compound to retrieve her impounded car.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said in a statement on Saturday (Feb 8) that the incident took place on Wednesday (Feb 5).

“The suspect trespassed the MPAJ depot in Taman Melawati and took her car without settling the fine imposed.

“The complainant, an MPAJ officer, attempted to pursue the vehicle but was unsuccessful. Later that day, at around 7.45pm, police arrested the 45-year-old suspect at a house in Taman Melawati. Checks revealed that she had no prior offences and was married to a local,” he said.

Investigations found that her vehicle had been towed for obstructing traffic. She was remanded until Friday (Feb 7) and has since been granted bail.

“The investigation paper has been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s (DPP) office for further instructions on charging,” he added.
