Missing man found dead after clam hunting in Menggatal


KOTA KINABALU: A man who went missing while searching for clams at a beach in Menggatal has been found dead.

Marwah Jamiri, 45, went to the beach with his father-in-law and a friend at Kg Kebagu around 8pm on Wednesday (Feb 5). His body was discovered at approximately 11.27am on Thursday (Feb 6).

The body was found floating near Kampung Wak-Wak, Sepanggar, quite a distance from where he was last seen.

Firemen handed the body over to the police for further action.

Earlier, Kota Kinabalu Fire Station chief Ordine Gilu said Marwah was discovered missing when his father-in-law and friend, who went clam hunting with him, could not find him at around 9.30pm when it was time to go home.

A search was mounted by friends and family, but they failed to locate Marwah.

A distress call was received at 6.14am on Thursday, and a team of seven firemen was dispatched to search for the missing man.
