Man nabbed for parang attack on Singaporean


KLUANG: A 37-year-old man has been arrested after slashing a Singaporean with a parang at Kampung Tengah here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident occurred on Friday at 5.50am.

“Following the incident, a team from the Kluang police station arrested the suspect at the scene at 6.10am. Checks revealed that the suspect has a criminal record, including two previous criminal offences and five narcotics-related ones.”

He added that a urine test conducted on the suspect returned positive for methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon and Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing mischief.

The suspect has been remanded for four days until tomorrow, while police continue their search for two additional suspects who remain at large.
