Man arrested in Sepang for slapping wife in public


SEPANG: The man caught on camera slapping his wife in public has been arrested.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Norhizam Bahaman confirmed the arrest in a text message to the media.

"The suspect was arrested earlier at 10am. He was caught in front of a clinic in Kota Warisan," he said.

The arrest followed a police complaint lodged by the victim’s younger sibling.

The complainant confirmed that the assaulted woman was her 35-year-old elder sister, and the perpetrator was her husband, who is in his 50s.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act 1994.

In the 29-second video, a woman is seen walking out of a shopping centre carrying a plastic bag before a man approaches her and slaps her.
