Five held over car ramming incident near nightclub

KUALA LUMPUR: Five men have been arrested in connection with an incident where vehicles ploughed into a group of men in front of a nightclub in Jalan Klang Lama.

Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob confirmed that there was a dispute earlier between the group of suspects and the victims.

“Based on information gathered, the police have tracked down and arrested five suspects, who are on record, in Banting.

“Three more suspects are at large and they are urged to surrender themselves to the police,” he said.

The police also released the names of the still at large suspects.

They are Devindran Muniandy (25), Ranjith Maniyarasu (19) and Lavindran Muniandy (27).

DCP Azry also said the cause of the incident has been determined to have stemmed from a prior disagreement between the group of suspects and the victims.

Meanwhile, in a previous statement Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said two people were injured and that a 24-year-old man lodged a police report over the incident.

“One of the victims was rushed to hospital for treatment. We are investigating the case under Section 307 of the Penal Code (attempted murder).”
