Train hits man on tracks near Klang railway station


KLANG: A KTM Commuter train travelling from Port Klang to Tanjung Malim came to an abrupt halt on Tuesday (Jan 28) morning after fatally hitting a man.

The victim, a 45-year-old foreign national, was struck near the Klang railway station at Jalan Besar, Taman Sri Istana.

South Klang district police chief ACP Cha Hoong Fong reported that the incident occurred at 6.38am on Jan 28.

The train's locomotive driver heard a loud collision noise, causing a gas leak in the train's system, which forced it to stop.

Upon inspection, the driver found the man's remains under the fourth compartment and promptly informed the police.

The victim was fully clothed, with his right leg severed.

The post-mortem conducted at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah revealed the cause of death as injuries from being hit by the train, with no criminal elements involved.

The police have initiated an investigation under sudden death to explore the matter further.

ACP Cha urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or the South Klang district police headquarters at 03-3376 2222.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad issued a statement on the incident day, revealing that five men had trespassed onto the rail tracks, resulting in one fatality and four minor injuries.

The accident occurred at KM34.374, between Teluk Pulai and Klang, shortly after the train departed from the Port Klang Jalan Kastam commuter station at 6.39am.

The stranded passengers were transported to the Subang Jaya KTM Komuter station by road to continue their journeys.
