Kek Lok Si Temple in George Town shines for Chinese New Year

GEORGE TOWN: Kek Lok Si Temple in Air Itam, the largest Buddhist temple in the country, will once again dazzle visitors with its vibrant lighting ceremony for Chinese New Year.

Starting from Jan 25, the temple will illuminate its vast complex with thousands of colourful lights and lanterns.

The display of lights will run nightly until Feb 25.

Temple leaders and state officials kicked off the ceremony following a prayer at the temple on Saturday (Jan 25).

A spectacular 10-minute fireworks show then illuminated the sky after the lights were turned on.
