Elderly driver crashes into Maybank in Sandakan

KOTA KINABALU: An elderly man crashed his car into the glass facade of Maybank Bandar Prima in Sandakan on Saturday morning (Jan 25), causing damage to the building.

The 77-year-old escaped unhurt.

Acting Sandakan police chief Supt Ramasamy Kuppan said the incident occurred at around 8am when the man, driving a sedan from Taman Rimba towards Bandar Prima, lost control of the vehicle while approaching the bank’s parking area.

“The car veered onto the pavement and rammed the front glass of the bank,” he said in a statement.

Ramasamy said initial investigations found no elements of foul play, and the case has been classified under Rule 10 LN166/59 of the Road Traffic Rules.
