IPOH: The police have confirmed receiving reports from a 42-year-old single mother claiming that her son's teacher had abused him.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said that on Dec 14, at about 1.15pm, the Ipoh district police headquarters confirmed receiving a report from the woman.
He said the woman had claimed that her son’s teacher had hit him.
“Based on preliminary investigations, the complainant stated that she saw what is believed to be bruising on the victim’s right hand, and was informed by her son that the teacher had hit him.
“The victim was taken to the hospital, and further examination confirmed that the victim sustained a 'soft tissue injury over the bilateral palm',” he said in a statement Monday (Jan 20).
ACP Abang Zainal Abidin also said the complainant had filed three related police reports.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury.
“The investigation paper has been referred to the state prosecutor’s office for further action, and we are waiting for further instructions,” he added.
Earlier Monday, the single mother alleged that her six-year-old son's pre-school teacher had been abusing him since September 2024.
She also said she had lodged three police reports against the female teacher at a government pre-school in Jelapang.
“On Sept 12, I lodged a report against the teacher via the public complaints management system (Sispaa), and the next day I also informed the school’s head about the matter,” she told a press conference organised by Perak Gerakan chairman Chek Kwong Weng.
She also claimed that after her report via Sispaa, the teacher had started picking on her son even more.
She said her son told her that the teacher would punish him for the slightest mistakes.
“My son was taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for evaluation and on Dec 12, the doctor confirmed that my son suffered a soft tissue injury," she said.
The single mother also told the media that when school reopens in February, her son would begin Year One in a new school.
“However I still want justice, and for action to be taken against the teacher, so that she does not do it to other students," she said.
