Flood victim numbers in Johor continue to decrease


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor continues to decrease, with 1,092 people now sheltered at 12 temporary relief centres (PPS).

The Johor Disaster Management Committee said that as of 8pm on Tuesday (January 14), 329 families are still seeking shelter in four flood-affected districts.

“Kluang still has the highest number of victims with 410 people, followed by Pontian with 354, Kota Tinggi with 275, and Johor Baru with 53.

“The majority of the operating PPS are in Pontian with five centres, Kota Tinggi and Kluang with three centres each, and one PPS in Johor Baru,” it said in a statement.

The PPS with the highest number of evacuees is SKJT Jalan Haji Manan in Kluang with 202 people, and SK Kampung Melayu Raya in Pontian with 159 people.
