MPV hits, kills biker in four-vehicle Shah Alam accident

SHAH ALAM: A 46-year-old motorcycle rider was killed following a four-vehicle accident at Seksyen 7 here.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident occurred at about 10.25am on Sunday (Jan 12).

"A driver of a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) coming from a housing area towards Persiaran Bestari lost control of the vehicle before hitting the back of the motorcycle.

"The impact caused the motorcycle rider to hit a parked vehicle, which also caused him to be thrown off the motorcycle and onto the road.

"The MPV driver then swerved to avoid the rider (on the road) and in doing so, hit the back of another vehicle," he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 13).

The rider died at the scene due to a previous head injury, he said.

"We are investigating under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"The 38-year-old male MPV driver has been detained to obtain samples of his urine and blood," he said.

ACP Mohd Iqbal urged any witness or those with information on the case to contact investigating officer Insp Muhammad Syahrul Zulkeflee at 010-4589850.
