Former HM accused of molesting trainee teacher


ALOR GAJAH: A former primary school headmaster has claimed trial to three counts of allegedly outraging the modesty of a 21-year trainee female teacher.

Mohammed Mohd Som, 58, entered his plea before magistrate Dr Teoh Shu Yee here yesterday.According to the charges, he is accused of using criminal force against the teacher by hugging her and kissing her cheek.

The offence was allegedly committed inside a toilet at SK Telok Berembang, Lubok China, at 10.40am on Aug 16 last year.

He faces two additional charges of allegedly hugging the woman and kissing her forehead inside a car in Taman Ilir Jaya and Taman Wira Indah here on Jan 18 and July 30, 2024.

The charges were framed under Section 354 of the Penal Code on the use of criminal force to outrage the modesty of a person.The indictment carries a jail term of up to 10 years and fine or whipping, or any two of the punishments, upon conviction.

Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Fikri Hakim Zamri proposed bail of RM8,000 for each charge.

Defence counsel Datuk Hanif Hassan requested that the amount be for all the charges, saying that his client had already been transferred to the state Education Department and was no longer serving in the school.

The court granted the accused bail of RM7,500 for all three charges and fixed March 6 for next mention.
