Cops hunting four men who robbed two tourists


BENTONG: Police are hunting down four men who robbed two China national tourists in Pekan Gohtong Jaya.

Bentong OCPD Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the incident, which occurred at about 6.30pm on Monday, involved a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, according to Sinar Harian.

Officers at the Genting Highlands police station received information about the incident from a member of the public at around 7.40pm.

“The incident happened while both victims were walking in Pekan Gohtong Jaya when they were approached by four unidentified male suspects.

“The suspects forced both victims into a luxury vehicle and a struggle ensued between them,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The female victim managed to escape from the vehicle, while the male victim was taken by the suspects.

“The male victim was later left by the roadside after the suspects took a sum of cash. He was also made to transfer money to the suspects’ accounts.

“Both victims sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the hospital,” he said, adding that police have conducted an investigation and are actively pursuing the suspects.
