Malaysia extends condolences to family of late US president Jimmy Carter


KUALA LUMPUR: The Foreign Ministry has expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathy on behalf of Malaysia on the passing of former US president James E. Carter Jr., on Dec 29, 2024.

Wisma Putra, in a post on its official Facebook page on Thursday (Jan 2), stated that Carter, who served as the 39th US president, was a distinguished statesman whose significant contributions to humanitarian efforts left an indelible mark on the world.

"Malaysia also hopes that the late President’s family will find strength and solace during this difficult time,” the post read.

The post also shared pictures of Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan signing the condolence book at the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Carter, the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize winner, passed away at his home in Plains, Georgia, at the age of 100. - Bernama
