MCA sacks Sembrong division youth chief for joining Bersatu

PETALING JAYA: MCA has sacked its Sembrong division youth chief Eugene Lim after he joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and informed the Johor state government to remove him as a Kluang municipal councillor.

MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said Lim’s move to Bersatu was sudden and had come without notice.

"MCA’s central committee’s policy dictates that any member who joins another political party or publicly announces their resignation will be immediately expelled from the party," said Chong on his Facebook post on Tuesday (Dec 31).

Chong added that the Johor MCA will notify the Kluang Municipal Council to immediately revoke Lim’s position as a councillor.

Lim had been a councillor for the Kampung Gajah zone.

It was understood that Lim had submitted his resignation letter as a municipal councillor.

A photo of Lim wearing a Bersatu t-shirt and standing beside Bersatu’s non-Bumiputera associate members' wing chief Dr Chong Fat Full has since been posted on social media.

Separately, MCA organising secretary-general Leaw Kok Chan said that the party headquarters has been notified of Lim's membership in Bersatu.
