Cops arrest Fahmi Reza for sedition

KOTA KINABALU: Artist Fahmi Reza has been arrested at the Penampang police station near here allegedly over a controversial caricature.

Sabah Police Chief Comm Datuk Jauteh Dikun said Fahmi was detained at about 5.30pm on Monday (Dec 30).

"We will apply for a remand order on Tuesday (Dec 31) for further probe under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act," he said on Monday.

This is after some 30 police reports were lodged against the artist for sedition, among others.

Earlier on Monday, Comm Jauteh said they were still tracking down Fahmi.

Later, the artist posted on X, saying he was on his way to the police station but said he would exercise his right under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code not to answer any questions, saying that his statement could be used to incriminate him.
