Lives destroyed: Cases against Najib and family built on lies, says son

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak's son claims that the trials his family is involved in are influenced by public perception.

In a Facebook post on Monday (Dec 23), Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib (pic) said that the cases against the former prime minister were built on lies, half-truths, and political ambition.

"I'm talking about lives destroyed, families torn apart, and dignity trampled on all on the basis of weak accusations, hastily fabricated with full vengeance and hatred," he said.

He further alleged that the trial was conducted hastily and carelessly.

"How else can we explain the court having to drop cases that were clearly just political games? This is not about justice. This is about revenge," he said.

According to him, Najib had already proved no wrongdoing in each trial he faced, yet the persecution continued, driven by those who prioritised politics over truth.

"Baseless cases have wasted time, legal costs, and the people's money," he said.

On Oct 30, Najib was ordered by the High Court to enter his defence on four counts of using his position to obtain RM2.28bil in gratification from 1MDB's funds and 21 counts of money laundering involving the same amount.

On Thursday (Dec 13), Najib completed reading his 525-page witness statement, which was read over eight days.

The hearing will continue on Jan 6.
