IPOH: Three higher learning institution students have been arrested by the police for allegedly beating up another student at a hostel in Seri Iskandar, Perak Tengah.

Perak Tengah OCPD Supt Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said the suspects, aged between 18 and 20, were arrested on Wednesday (Dec 18) after a report was lodged by the victim's father on Tuesday.

"We received the report at about 6.45pm.

"The victim, aged 18, was said to have been beaten up by a group of individuals at the hostel on Sunday (Dec 15)," he said in a statement.

"The victim sustained injuries to his ear and bruises on his right eyebrow, left limbs, abdomen and nape.

"He was given outpatient treatment and is in stable condition," he added.

Supt Hafezul Helmi said the three youths were investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
