SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government will donate RM500,000 to Kelantan as support aid to help with recovery efforts following last month’s floods.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the allocation will be tabled at the state executive council meeting this Wednesday (Dec 18) for final approval.

“This aid will be used to repair damaged infrastructure and other affected facilities.

"Through the Selangor Prihatin Fund, we provide assistance to disaster-affected areas, including Kelantan,” he told reporters after officiating a disaster aid mission to Kelantan under the Ihsan Madani Squad at the Selangor State Secretariat Building here on Monday (Dec 16).

He added that the state government has mobilised the squad, comprising local authority staff and volunteers, to help flood recovery efforts in Kelantan.

The mission, involving 130 personnel and 45 vehicles, will focus on cleaning operations from Tuesday to Thursday (Dec 17 to 19).

The team also includes Selangor’s waste management company, KDEB Waste Management, which will handle the cleanup of public infrastructure and homes affected by the disaster.

Its managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir said the company has deployed 21 personnel and five roll-on roll-off (RoRo) trucks for the mission and is ready to provide additional manpower and resources if needed. – Bernama
