Tengku Zafrul: I will clarify my position soon

SABAK BERNAM: Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Aziz says he will issue an official statement regarding his political position soon.

The Investment, Trade and Industry Minister said he is aware of the speculation on the matter

"Actually, I haven’t made any comments regarding my involvement in politics yet. At the same time, I’ve heard (Selangor Mentri Besar) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari's statement on Saturday (December 14) that he intends to complete his term as the Selangor MB.

To address this issue, I will issue a statement about it soon, God willing," he told reporters after attending the Larian Kita here on Sunday (December 15).

Tengku Zafrul's statement has put to rest speculation that he be will be taking over as the Selangor Mentri Besar mid-term.

In April, Tengku Zafrul quit as Selangor Umno treasurer, citing differences of opinion and lack of direction.

Amirudin had earlier dismissed claims suggesting that he may step down as the Selangor Mentri Besar before the end of his term.

In a statement published by SelangorKini, the Sungai Tua assemblyman and Gombak MP said he will continue to serve as the Mentri Besar until the end of his term, as per the advice of Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

"I have observed various forms of speculation circulating over the past few days.

As per the advice of His Royal Highness, and with his consent for me to convey this advice to all, I will remain in Selangor until the end of this term to ensure economic stability and the stability of the unity government in the state," said Amirudin.
