BATU PAHAT: The newly established Johor Business School (JBS) at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) aims to provide skilled professionals for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and the Special Financial Zone (SFZ), says Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

The Johor Regent, who is also UTHM chancellor, said the school reflects the university’s commitment to advancing technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

He said this aligns with its goal of becoming a globally-minded entrepreneurial university guided by Islamic principles.

Tunku Ismail added that this is also in line with UTHM’s mission to develop graduates who are skilled, professional and competitive in high-tech industries.

“I am very proud of the establishment of JBS, a new study centre at UTHM, this year.

“JBS aims to produce well-rounded, high-quality talent and build lasting connections with the local community.

“I am confident it will play a key role in developing graduates who excel in business management and possess the global skills needed to drive Johor’s economic growth,” he said at UTHM’s 24th convocation ceremony at Dewan Sultan Ibrahim here yesterday.

Tunku Ismail also called on communities and industries to work more closely with universities to create a dynamic education system that better prepares students for the real world.

He added that initiatives like JS-SEZ and SFZ are expected to generate more than 100,000 jobs in strategic fields such as industry, technology, logistics and tourism.

“These efforts will support JBS’ role in boosting Johor’s economy and offering meaningful opportunities for graduates.

“With a clear vision and dedication, JBS and UTHM will become leaders in higher education, helping Johor achieve progress and prosperity in line with the aspirations of Bangsa Johor,” he added.
