OCTOGENARIAN Fatimah Hamat is devastated that her home of 30 years has been washed away by the floods in Rantau Panjang, Kelantan.
Strong currents, with about 10m of water, have severely damaged the house at Kampung Gual Tok Deh, leaving only the stilts behind, just a day after moving to her sibling’s house, reported Harian Metro.
“I can’t put it into words. I could only shed tears when I saw the 30-year-old house collapse. I don’t know where we will stay after this,” she said, holding back her tears.
> Actress Uyaina Arshad practices “gentle parenting” and speaks softly to her children when they throw tantrums, reported Kosmo!Uyaina, whose full name is Saidatul Naseha Uyaina Arshad, 31, said she makes an effort not to raise her voice against her young sons.
She said when her children cry, demand milk and are cranky for no reason, she will let them cry in her arms to calm down.
“I try my best to be a gentle mother.
“My husband and I agree that this is the best parenting approach for our children.
“Sometimes, it’s so easy to get angry at our kids when they act out. But anger or yelling will only shape negative traits in them as they grow up,” she said.
Uyaina married her husband, Raja Syahiran, in 2021. The couple have two sons.
