KOTA BARU: Clips purporting to show crocodiles at various flooded places in Kelantan have gone viral.

According to Sinar Harian, a video showing a crocodile went viral a few days ago; the clip is believed to have been recorded in the Tumpat district.

The reptile was spotted by a group of men in a waterlogged area before the animal moved onto land.

Meanwhile, several residents claimed to have seen a crocodile recently near a supermarket in Rantau Panjang.

They also shared the incident on social media, including on a portal, to warn the public.

The administrator of a Facebook community group, Adrian Hakimi Mohd Don, 35, said he was informed about the sighting on Thursday after an individual reported seeing the reptile not far from the supermarket.

“The individual claimed to have seen the head emerging from the water surface for two days and was convinced that the animal was roaming in the area,” he said.

Adrian Hakimi added that on Friday, the individual claimed their mother also spotted the crocodile in the same area and asked him to share the information on the portal to alert the public.

Meanwhile, Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has reportedly said it remains on high alert to address human-wildlife conflicts amid floods

Kedah Perhilitan director Dr Abdul Malek Mohd Yusof was quoted as saying that the "conflicts are likely caused by wildlife being displaced from their natural habitats due to floods.

"These mostly involve primates, snakes, civets, crocodiles, and similar species," he said.
