Free document replacement service offered

PUTRAJAYA: The Home Ministry, through the National Registration Department (NRD), will provide free replacement for documents such as birth certificates and identity cards lost in floods, says minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He said NRD officers will set up mobile counters and deploy buses to the affected areas to expedite the process.

“I hope our efforts will, to some extent, help the affected victims and ease their affairs in the aftermath of the floods,” he said in a post on X yesterday.

As at 9 am yesterday, the number of flood victims had risen to 150,782.

It comprises 45,195 families placed in 699 relief centres across nine states, namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Perlis, Johor, Pahang, Melaka and Selangor.
