Floods: 13 static GOF posts along Sg Golok affected, five forced to shut

KOTA BARU: A total of 13 static posts of the General Operations Force (GOF) involved in Ops Taring Wawasan Kelantan, located on the Malaysia-Thailand border along Sungai Golok, have been affected by floods.

GOF Southeast brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said that five of these posts had been shut down as water levels reached the post floor, posing a threat to the safety of the GOF personnel on duty.

He added that all personnel from the closed posts have been relocated to other assignment locations, but are still performing their duties as usual.

"Each sector of Ops Taring Wawasan Kelantan has also been directed to aid local residents in their respective sectors whose homes have been impacted by the floods,” he informed Bernama on Thursday (Nov 28).

He pointed out that for other posts affected by floods and not yet closed, continuous monitoring of water levels is being undertaken.

"All post personnel are still performing their duties as usual and have been cautioned to be aware of flood risks, prioritise personal safety, and report instantly if the water level rises rapidly and touches the post floor,” he said.

The Meteorological Department had issued a warning the previous day of heavy rain persisting at dangerous levels until the next day, expected to hit all over Kelantan and Terengganu, as well as the Kuantan and Jerantut districts in Pahang. - Bernama
