Melaka revokes Datukship from GISB chairman


MELAKA: The Melaka Palace has revoked the Datukship of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Sdn Bhd (GISB) executive chairman and chief executive officer Datuk Nasiruddin Mohd Ali with immediate effect.

In a statement on Monday (Nov 18), Melaka State Secretary Datuk Azhar Arshad announced that the Yang Di-Pertua Tun Dr Mohd Ali Rustam has decided to revoke the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka title awarded to Nasiruddin on Aug 25.

He stated that Dr Mohd Ali made the decision on Monday (Nov 18) following advice from Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

Azhar added that Nasiruddin's name will be removed from the list of recipients of honorary titles conferred by the state.

"The decision was made in accordance with the state's constitution on honorary titles," he said in the statement.

"Therefore, Nasiruddin should return the award to the State Secretary's Office at the Seri Negeri Complex in Ayer Keroh immediately."

Several states, including Perlis, Selangor, Pahang, and Melaka, have declared GISB as deviant.
