PETALING JAYA: Travellers between Kota Baru, Kelantan and Alor Setar, Kedah won’t easily forget an encounter with 30 elephants blocking their way.

The antics of the herd playing and sleeping in the middle of the road were made viral on a Tiktok video by lorry driver Mohd Hisham Yazid, 38.

He shared that the incident happened at Tasik Banding, Perak on Friday (Nov 15) at 3am.

He said he frequently came across such herds disrupting traffic but had never seen so many at the same time before.

"Every week I will come across elephants in Tasik Banding," Sinar Harian reported him as saying on Monday (Nov 18).

In a 53-second video, he showed an elephant approaching a car, saying the animal was drawn to the vehicle’s headlights.

He explained that lights will attract elephants to approach and play.

"If (anyone) come across elephants in the night, (they) must slow down and off the car lights.

"Never come out from the car or show yourself. These are some tips to reduce the risk of being attacked by wildlife.

Mohd Hisham also reminded people to be careful if come across elephants with their young ones as they will attack if they feel threatened.
