Body of drowned boy found in Segamat after three-day search


SEGAMAT: The body of a 14-year-old boy who went missing while swimming with friends in Sungai Jeram Badoh, Buloh Kasap here has been found.

Segamat OCPD Supt Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said the victim's body was found at 12.05pm on Sunday (Nov 17), the third day of the search and rescue operation.

"The body was found entangled among tree roots in Sungai Jeram Badoh, approximately 450m from where the victim was swept away by currents on Friday (Nov 15).

"The body was clad in black tracksuit pants without a shirt, consistent with the description provided by the victim's companions," he said in a statement on Sunday.

Supt Ahmad Zamry added that the boy's remains were taken to Segamat District Hospital's forensic unit for a post-mortem examination.

"The public is advised to be more vigilant about current weather conditions and to reduce activities in rivers.

"Parents are reminded to closely monitor their children's movements, especially during unpredictable weather conditions," he said.
