Teen reported missing in Maran found safe in Seremban, say cops

KUANTAN: A 15-year-old girl, reported missing from Kampung Paya Chedung in Maran on Saturday (Nov 9), has been found safe at a friend's house in Seremban on Wednesday (Nov 13), says the police.

Maran OCPD Supt Wong Kim Wai said that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Maran district police headquarters (IPD) tracked down the girl at 11pm.

"Upon receiving information about the location of the missing girl on Nov 13 in Seremban, the Maran district police headquarters CID team immediately went there and found her in good health. She was with an 18-year-old friend.

"The CID team brought the teenage girl back at about 12.30pm and reached her family home by 3.30am. The girl's mother also filed a police report confirming her daughter's safe return," he said.

He made these remarks after the opening ceremony of a gymnasium and Deepavali banquet at the Pahang contingent headquarters, which was officiated by Pahang police chief Comm Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman.

"Most cases of disappearances are usually due to the influence of peer groups. Otherwise, it's because of arguments within the family.

"In connection with that, police advise families to pay attention to changes in their children's behaviour and habits, spend more time communicating with them and screen their friends," he added. – Bernama
