Flooding in Teluk Intan caused by high tide phenomenon

IPOH: Flooding in Teluk Intan town early Friday (Nov 15) morning was caused by the high tide phenomenon, says the Survey and Mapping Department Malaysia.

In a statement shared on its TikTok account, the department reported that a survey team from the Geodetic Survey Division observed flooding in the town between 4.30am and 5.30am on Friday (Nov 15).

"Based on data from the department's Tide Gauge Station in Lumut, this flooding is expected to continue from Nov 15 to 17, 2024," the statement noted.

It advised local residents to remain alert and take early precautions against the ongoing phenomenon.

"Information on tidal surges can be accessed through the 2024 Malaysia Tide Prediction Table published by the deparmtnet, as well as on its official website and social media platforms," it added. – Bernama
