Firefighters carry injured man on stretcher for 5km after Sabah farm accident


KOTA KINABALU: Firefighters carried a seriously injured man on a stretcher for five kilometres from a farm to the main road to transport him to Kota Belud district hospital on Tuesday (Nov 12) morning.

The 27-year-old was pinned under a tree while performing woodcutting activities as part of farm clearing work in Kampung Tandakon, Kota Belud.

A team of 10 firefighters from the Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Department responded to a distress call received at 10.34am.

They arrived at the scene, about 22km away, at 11.11am.

“When we arrived, the victim was trapped under the tree. We quickly extracted him, provided first aid, and carried him on a stretcher to the main road, where he was then taken to the district hospital,” a department spokesperson said.

The operation was called off at 3.07pm after ensuring the area was safe and clear of further risks.
