Johor top cop Kumar rubbishes ‘retirement’ claims


JOHOR BARU: Comm Datuk M. Kumar is still serving as the Johor police chief and has not retired as claimed by certain individuals.

In denying his retirement, Comm Kumar also reminded the public not to spread false information from unverified sources.

“I am still serving my duties and responsibilities as the state police chief to ensure public safety and peace in Johor.

“Refrain from spreading unverified information that could cause confusion. All official announcements regarding the changes in leaderships and ranks will be announced through official Royal Malaysia Police channels only,” he said in a statement.

He added that police could take the necessary actions against those who spread fake news.

Comm Kumar was responding to social media messages that claimed that he had retired following a video posted on the Iskandar Puteri police headquarters’ TikTok account.

In the video, Comm Kumar was seen attending a ceremony held for retired and soon-to-retire policemen in the Johor police contingent.
