Teen part-time worker killed in shopping mall construction accident


KUALA TERENGGANU: A 17-year-old student who was working part-time as a construction worker has been killed in a shopping centre here.

In a statement, the Terengganu Occupational Safety and Health Department said the incident occurred at about 4.30pm on Wednesday (Nov 6) when the teenager was carrying building materials on a modified trolley to a shoplot being renovated.

However, the trolley broke and the building materials fell on the victim.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries.

The department said it conducted further investigation at shopping centre on Thursday (Nov 7) and issued a Notice of Prohibition to the contractor involved for failing to provide safe methods for unloading and moving goods. – Bernama
