Final 2024 STR payout starts Nov 7, says Finance Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will begin disbursing the final payment of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) for this year to 8.7 registered recipients in stages on Thursday.

The Finance Ministry in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 6) said the government will also distribute an additional one-off cash assistance under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) to eight million STR recipients who are not from the poor and hardcore poor groups through the STR payment method starting Dec 9.

It said the remaining 700,000 STR recipients from the poor and hardcore poor groups will continue to receive the Sara assistance throughout the year.

"With this additional cash aid, eligible households will receive up to RM1,000 in the final STR payment for this year, in line with the Madani government’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of the people.

"The final STR payment involves an allocation of RM3.4bil, and the government has already disbursed nearly RM10bil to STR and Sara recipients this year, compared to RM8bil in 2023,” the statement read.

More to come.
