MACC officer charged with misappropriating RM613,000 property


PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) assistant commissioner has been charged at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Court for dishonestly misappropriating property.

Azizun Mohamad is charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code for misappropriating seized assets amounting to RM613,000 related to Op Green, an MACC operation that uncovered diesel vehicle registration fraud in the mySikap system in 2019.

The offence allegedly occurred between June 1 and Feb 9 in Cyberjaya, Sepang, Selangor.

If convicted, the accused faces a prison sentence of not less than six months and not more than five years, with whipping and a fine.

The MACC stated that it takes integrity and work ethics among its officers seriously and will not hesitate to act against any officer who violates the rule of law.

"This action reflects MACC's commitment to upholding justice and combating corruption and abuse of power without fear or favour," added the graftbuster.
