Two women killed after motorcycle collides with car

KULAI: Two women were killed after their motorcycle collided with a car at Jalan Kulai-Kota Tinggi here on Monday (Oct 28).

Kulai OCPD Supt Tan Seng Lee said police were informed about the accident at 7.20pm on Monday.

“Initial investigations revealed that the motorcycle rider, a 67-year-old woman, together with her 50-year-old daughter-in-law, who was riding pillion, were travelling from Kota Tinggi towards Kulai.

“The accident occurred when the 30-year-old male driver of a car travelling from the same direction was unable to avoid the motorcycle.

“It led to an unavoidable side-swipe collision between the two vehicles,” he said in a statement here on Tuesday (Oct 29).

Supt Tan added that the motorcyclist and her passenger sustained severe injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Their bodies have been transferred to Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital in Kulai for post-mortem examination.

“The driver of the vehicle was unharmed in the incident,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police are urging anyone with relevant information to assist in the investigation by contacting the Kulai district police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division.
