KUALA LUMPUR: Olympic medalist and world diving champion Cheong Jun Hoong has taken up a new role in life.

The retired Malaysian diver announced her marriage on Instagram on Sunday (Oct 27).

"One thing I never thought would happen," she wrote while posting several pictures of her big day.

However, her husband's face has been covered up, making his identity a mystery.

According to China Press, the 34-year-old Ipoh-born lass tied the knot on Oct 10 but only shared the happy news now.

Cheong made history by becoming Malaysia's first world champion diver after winning the 10m platform event at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Partnering Pandelela Rinong, the pair won a silver medal in the synchronised 10m platform event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Cheong retired from sports in January 2022.
