Part of Jalan Simpang Pulai - Cameron Highlands shuts for clean-up after landslip

IPOH: KM43 of Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands will be closed to traffic indefinitely following a landslip incident there.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the closure will involve both directions of the road to allow clean-up works to be conducted by the Public Works Department, starting at 5pm on Friday (Oct 25).

"There is still some soil movement in the affected area and this poses a danger to motorists.

"Road users are advised to plan their journey by using an alternative route via Jalan Tapah-Cameron Highlands to avoid getting trapped in traffic congestion while the clean-up works are being done," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 25)

In a separate statement, a state Public Works Department spokesman said the incident occurred at about 8am.

The cause, however, has yet to be determined and would be investigated further, said the spokesman.

"We will continuously monitor the area," he added.
