Navy officers pay courtesy visit to Chinese training ship in Penang

KUALA LUMPUR: The crew of KLD Tunas Samudera (KLD TSA) visited the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy Ship (Plans) training vessel Po Lang, docked at Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal in George Town, Penang.

This executive visit was one of several activities during Po Lang's operational visit to Malaysia from Wednesday (Oct 23) to Saturday (Oct 26).

Led by Commander Azmi Abu Zarin, the KLD TSA crew met Po Lang's commanding officer, Commander Ma Wenyong, and his crew on Thursday (Oct 24).

The visit included a briefing on the upper deck, followed by discussions on shared experiences, maritime operations knowledge, ship handling, and training management.

The Royal Malaysian Navy shared on its Facebook page that this visit is expected to foster more coordinated cooperation on ship training in the future and promote harmony and commitment between the Malaysian and Chinese navies in strengthening diplomatic ties.

Po Lang, an 86-metre-long training vessel, is currently on a training voyage across several countries, with its next destination being Singapore.
