Heavy rain triggers landslide in Taman Melawati


KUALA LUMPUR: A landslide this morning in Taman Melawati has cut off an access road and forced the evacuation of at least two houses.

Taman Melawati Residents' Association chairman Azhari Abd Taharim said that the landslide occurred around 10.30am, affecting part of Jalan Serdang.

“I know that at least one vehicle was damaged and the authorities advised the occupants of two houses to leave for safety reasons.

“There was still water flowing down the damaged slope,” he said when contacted.

StarMetro has reached out to Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) for updates on the situation.

Videos of the landslide have gone viral, showing water gushing down the damaged slope.
