Flood gauge in Petaling at Level One warning status

PETALING JAYA: The flood gauge in Petaling district has reached Level One yellow warning as thunderstorms persist over the Klang Valley since early Tuesday morning (Oct 15).

According to the Info Banjir page on the Selangor Irrigation and Drainage Department website, as at 12.09pm, the flood gauge in Klang, which has 16 stations, also shows Level One status.

The warning level for flood gauge readings is when the water level rises by about 0.3m; an increase of 0.6m signifies danger level.

There are a total of nine flood gauges in the state.

Meanwhile, the water threshold levels along several rivers in the state crossed alert levels at Kuala Selangor, Hulu Langat and Petaling, while in Klang, it has crossed the warning level.

An alert level is when the river water significantly increases above normal.

Warning level indicates near flooding, and that those in the area should prepare for evacuation.

The danger level indicates considerable flooding.
