Jobless man claims trial to using foul language on traffic cop


GEORGE TOWN: An unemployed man has been charged in a Magistrate's Court here for insulting a traffic policeman who stopped him for an alleged offence.

Goh Weng Keong, 25, pleaded not guilty to the charge read out by an interpreter in Hokkien before Magistrate Nadratun Naim Mohd Saidi on Friday (Oct 4).

According to the charge sheet, the accused, who is unmarried, was alleged to have insulted Kpl Nik Muhammad Faizal Nik Long, 40, by uttering vulgar words to him.

Goh was alleged to have committed the offences in front of the bus stop at Jalan Thean Teik, Air Itam, at about 6.45pm on Wednesday (Oct 2).

He was charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting modesty.

Earlier, it was reported that the suspect was arrested at a house in Taman Paya Terubong, Air Itam here on Thursday (Oct 3) after being suspected of using vulgar words on a traffic policeman.

A 3min, 28sec video clip went viral earlier showing a man using abusive language on a traffic policeman.
